About App-From-us
What this site is for, how the guides are researched and reviewed, and what we will not do.
App-From-us publishes practical guides for people making ordinary decisions about money, job applications, background checks and the technology they rely on. The premise is simple: most of the difficulty in these areas is not that the options are complicated, it is that nobody explains the mechanics before you are expected to know them.
What we publish
Five subject areas, listed in the navigation. Financial covers how products and services work. Background checks covers what a check can and cannot show. Resumes and CVs covers building a document that survives both software and a hiring manager. Technical covers the internet and developer tooling underneath everything else. Technology covers the tools and security habits that affect your day.
New categories can be added by editing a single data file. Nothing about the site structure is hardcoded to the five above.
How a guide is written
- Start from what the reader is actually trying to decide, not from a feature list.
- Explain the mechanism before describing the options, so the reader can evaluate anything new themselves.
- State the trade-off, including who a product is a bad fit for.
- Name what is uncertain instead of smoothing it over. Where a rule or a limit depends on jurisdiction, we say so.
- Link out to primary sources and the vendor's own documentation rather than to other people's summaries.
What we will not do
- Invent statistics, user counts, benchmark figures or citations.
- Publish customer reviews or testimonials we did not receive.
- Claim a commercial partnership, certification or award that does not exist.
- Publish a page whose only purpose is to rank for a search term.
- Use urgency, countdowns or pressure tactics to push a decision.
Corrections
Something on this site is wrong, out of date or unclear. We would rather know. Use the contact page and tell us which page and what the problem is. Factual corrections get made; disagreements about framing get explained.
Editorial independence
Money changes hands through some links on this site. That is disclosed on every page that carries such a link, and the detail is on the affiliate disclosure. The rule we hold ourselves to is straightforward: a commission must never decide what a guide says, and a guide must never recommend something we cannot describe accurately. If a partner pays for a mention, we would rather decline than stretch.
