Affiliate Disclosure
How this site makes money, what it means for you, and the rules the site holds itself to.
Some links on this website are affiliate links. If you click one and complete an eligible action, we may receive a commission. It costs you nothing extra. The price, the terms and the product are the same whether you arrived through our link or typed the address yourself.
What that means in practice
- A link marked as an affiliate link carries a sponsored rel attribute in the page source. Every other outbound link carries rel="nofollow", so that a commercial site never passes its own reputation to someone else's domain.
- Commission tracking is handled by the destination service, usually with a cookie or a referral code in the URL. That happens on their site, under their policy.
- We are not able to see who you are, and the destination does not share that with us.
What we will not do
- We will not describe a service as a partner, sponsor or recommendation because it pays us.
- We will not write a guide about a product we cannot describe accurately.
- We will not place a link to something purely because the commission is high.
- We will not use fake reviews, invented testimonials, invented user counts or invented awards.
- We will not change a recommendation because a contract changed.
How this site is funded
Advertising and affiliate commissions. There are no subscriptions, no paywalls, no paid placements in the guides, and nothing on this site is for sale. If we ever add something that changes, this page is the place it gets explained.
Transparency about the current links
The full list of services linked from this site lives in one configuration file, and each entry states whether an affiliate URL is configured. Where no affiliate URL has been supplied, the link is a plain link to the vendor's own site and earns us nothing. That is deliberate: a link only counts as an affiliate link once there is a real, working affiliate URL behind it.
A note on the categories
Some subject areas, notably background checks, involve services that can be misused. We link to them only in guides that explain what they can and cannot do, and only alongside the legal and ethical constraints that come with using them. A payout is not a reason to leave that context out.
Questions
If something on this site reads as an advertorial, or if you think a recommendation is wrong, say so on the contact page. Being told we are wrong is useful.
